I made an account at XXXX to verify my credit history. A day later, I started receiving marketing messages from Experian. The first offered me an opportunity to boost my credit score with " Experian XXXX '', ostensibly a credit repair product. The second told me to review my " financial profile '', some other Experian product pushed to me without my consent. The problem is that when I opened the messages to find an unsubscribe button, there was none. In its place was the following text : " This email was sent because it contains important information about your account. Please note that if you have previously unsubscribed from Experian XXXX XXXX, you will no longer receive newsletters or special offers. However, you will continue to receive email notifications regarding your account. '' The messages I received contained no important information about my account. They were ads for Experian products I don't want. I was able to manually log into Experian and change message preferences, but the lack of unsubscribe button on marketing messages is definitely not legal.
