Consumer Narrative
The company mailed out to me a pre-approval letter on or around XX/XX/2023. I responded to the offer that stated i would receive an approval in as little as XXXX seconds. That did not happen so then I received an email stating that its under review and this action can take up to 1 to 2 business days. 2 days has passed, I received another email that stated that i was approved tentatively pending receipt and verification of my employment status. i uploaded the required documents and later that day I received a phone call from a PenFed representative stating that they will have to call my employer to see if i worked there. Something i never heard of before from an institution that is approving you for a Credit Card. The next day I called and had questions on why they would need to call my employer direct, after I've uploaded ; requested documentation that was sufficient enough to validate my identity and annual salary. This went on from XX/XX/2023 XXXX. I spoke with several PenFed representatives and was told different theories and reasonings on why my application process was taking so long. I was told PenFed reached out to my empolyer and my employer had to call a number in 48 hours ( which if the company stated they reached out to my employer than that should have been determined that i was an employee ). I was told that they were waiting on a letter from my employer because of my annual salary ( which I know personally that was false ). I was also told that my employer had to upload documents. As you can see all of these hurdles and obstacles because PenFed probably did not think i was telling the truth about my annual salary which is alarming and shameful. I have a great credit score as well as high balance cards due to how i maneuver with my credit profile and my annual salary. In conclusion, I believe it was False advertisement on their behalf as well as discriminatory practices and this situation should have been handled differently.
