On XX/XX/2023 i attempted to purchase a pet XXXX cat through a website that seemed legitimate to me. ( XXXX ) I spoke with a person who went by the name XXXX XXXX about the process of shipping the cat to me and he asked for an initial payment of {$1200.00}, followed by multiple requests from the alleged shipping company for additional payments for shipping and electronic crate rental which i was told would be refunded and never heard back from them. Payments were {$1500.00}, {$500.00}, then {$620.00} totaling {$3800.00} of my hard earned money that i eventually learned i was completely scammed out of. These payments were all sent though Zelle on my XXXX XXXX XXXX app Throughout the process they were giving me detailed information about the cat i was expecting and even asked if Id like to change his name on the certificate. Once all payments were sent they completely stopped responding and i didnt hear back from XXXX or the shipping company. Once i realized this was a scam i immediately called my Zelle and my bank ( XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX ) and told them about the situation and they attempted to reach out to the merchant but they were unsuccessful in recovering my funds. I really need the CFPBs help in recovering my funds as i worked long hours to earn that money
