Consumer Narrative
On or about XX/XX/XXXX, I began to receive phone calls from a company called Medicredit , Inc. regarding medical debts they claimed I owed them. To the best of my knowledge, I have never had a relationship with or received services from them. In addition, I never received a letter from Medicredit notifying me of the debt and did not have the chance to dispute it prior to receiving the phone solicitations. On or about XX/XX/XXXX, I began receiving letters claiming the same debts. I immediately responded with a " debt validation letter '' requesting that they provide all of the correspondence they believe they have sent to me along with the name and the address of the original creditor and supporting invoices. The letter explicitly including a request that Medicredit not contact me by phone and conduct all communication in writing. I have continued to receive phone calls from Medicredit despite this request ( the latest being XX/XX/XXXX ). I have also not received the written validation of the alleged debt. This is likely because they are attempting to collect amounts above what were negotiated and paid by my insurance company. According to my insurance company, the negotiated claim amounts have been paid in full and I owe nothing. Since Medicredit is unlikely to prevail in any claim against me, I believe they are hoping to intimidate me into payment by violating the provisions of the FCRA related to allowable methods of contact and providing proper validation of any alleged debts within a reasonable time. I request that Medicredit cease all improper collection efforts and that their business practices be investigated by the proper oversight authority to ensure they are abiding by the requirements of federal, state, and local laws in regards to debt collection.
