Hi : Good afternoon. My name is XXXX XXXX and I am writing in reference to an issue of a returned check on my Wellsfargo account. I have been a customer of Wellsfargo since 1998. I wrote a check to " XXXX XXXX '' for {$55.00} and this check was presented twice to Wellsfargo and on both occasions, the check was returned to the merchant without any negative balance ( - {$55.00} ) showing on my account. Prior to this, I was notified by Wellsfargo about a new policy that gives customers XXXX hours to deposit funds in their account before checks are returned to the merchant. This new policy from Wellsfargo is a great idea but I just discovered in my instance today, that this policy is dependent on whether they feel like paying the check or not. I just called the Wellsfargo customer service number and this is what I was told. I initially I spoke to XXXX, and then had this escalated to XXXX XXXX. Her reasoning did not make sense since this to me is a clear case of " bait and switch ''. I was then referred to XXXX XXXX at the Executive office and I decided to write to you. The assigned complaint # XXXX was given to me by XXXX. The case # XXXX was assigned to me by XXXX at the executive office. I now have to drive to XXXX XXXX and take care of this in addition to paying for their returned check fee and the embarrasment of this issue. Why would a bank institute such a great policy but then decide on a whim when they will follow through on this new policy. It's either they practice this policy or don't do it.
