I applied for a XXXX account in XX/XX/XXXX over the phone and they pulled my credit report. On XX/XX/XXXX, I used the only email sent to me by Discover to start loading documents but it only allowed me to enter the same personal info that I shared over the phone in XXXX Once complete, I hit submit and Discover then pulled another hard credit bureau while I already had an open application with them. The email they sent should have informed me that I already have an application but it did not and it pulled a 2nd credit inquiry when it was not necessary. I called Discover and they cancelled the 2nd application but this seems to be a harmful practice for consumers. I find myself to be a savvy consumer and this deceptive practice has probably impacted many other consumers as they are pulling a new credit inquiry when the consumer doesnt understand or want that 2nd pull.
