Consumer Narrative

In an attempt to refinance, the lender repeatedly told me not to send money until they refi was complete. They never sent documents. I was taken to court by three corporate lawyers from Wells Fargo to take my home. In struggling to keep my home I qualified for a n Obama homeowners program where I qualified for {$50000.00} - more than enough to catch up on back payments. The lender/Wells Fargo refused to take the funds and the deadline wore out for me to retrieve the money after weeks of contacting them. I was able to find a lawyer pro bono out of XXXX who was able to assist me only once and no more - the other two times I went alone facing these corporate lawyers by myself. The judge threw the case out three times because Wells Fargo did not have proper documentation but I did. After the third court hearing I asked the judge if it were finally over and she said unfortunately not and that they could return trying to take my home. They did. But this time just before their return I was diagnosed with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and did not have the energy to fight them a fourth time. Under duress, I was forced into a short sale. In fact, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Sick, fearful of losing my home and being homeless, just out of the XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX a representative from Wells Fargo repeatedly told me I had to leave my home. My daughter was living with me at the time, trying to raise her XXXX children and take care of me but Wells Fargo persisted. The realtor for Wells Fargo forced us out of my home under duress. I was very sick and my daughter with XXXX children had no where to go. She and her children became homeless and had to move into a shelter. I became homeless and had to depend on the kindness of family and friends up until the year XXXX where I was finally able to purchase an inexpensive home in Georgia. I had to move to Georgia due to the pandemic because my treatments were here at the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and flying on a plane was no longer an option. With donations, social security and XXXX managed to save enough for the small downpayment to where I currently reside. My family has not been the same since Wells Fargo destroyed my living arrangements and improperly denied mortgage modification funds and more. My daughter had to move to a low income area with high crime. My mother, for whom I built the home from the ground, died. A divorce is not the only thing that can break up a home. Unfortunately I found out this way that my home, my children, my health were taken down to nothing. I lost everything I had including my family all because of their greed. In addition to that the realtor had the nerve to call me and say, " the new owners of your house really love it. They decorated it nicely. Would you like to see it? '' I was crushed at his cruelty. This same man had to 10 years later sign documents for the home I am in now because he had to attest to the home being a short sale. Wells Fargo forced me into a short sale and payed me {$6000.00} to relocate. I had nothing and was sick so I took it. My house today is worth over {$750000.00}. I paid {$290000.00} for it then. I had worked three jobs to purchase that house for my mother who was elderly. The housing are as a XXXX XXXX called XXXX XXXX XXXX. I need to be made whole even after these many years of holding on to my life. My daughter is now estranged and my grandchildren do not visit me because they do not trust me. They think them having to live in a shelter is my fault. I have tried to explain but all they know is that they left where they were living to come help me when I was sick and the next thing they know they are all living in a shelter. I barely survived just with the thought of them in a shelter let alone with a XXXX XXXX It was all I could do to hold on. When I had to find the man who forced me into the short sale he actually said, " hey I remember you - you had XXXX right? '' I think I was hurt all over again because he said it like it was a prize he had won. This is how cruel Wells Fargo was during the mortgage crisis and I'm sure others have horror stories as well because my entire community was being impacted and each family had a different horror story to tell. Hard working, honest people, People were losing their houses like it was nothing. I was a XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX during the day who requested to work with underserved children and a XXXX XXXX at night who requested to work with adults who had not finished high school diplomas. My third job was XXXX XXXX XXXX
