Consumer Narrative
When will CFPB actually start protecting consumers from these unethical credit reporting agencies? Experian recently decreased my credit rating by XXXX points. Today Experian again decreased my credit rating. Why doesn't Experian have to inform me of the reason for these changes? 1. I have NO late payments, NO judgements, No bankruptcies. 2. I have NO new credit inquires. 3. I have ONE mortgage which has always been paid on time. 4. I use ONE credit card which has always paid off in full each month. 5. I have one back-up credit card which also always has a XXXX balance. 6. My " debt to income '' ratio has actually decreased as my mortgage balance has decreased and my income has increased. There are NO visible changes to my credit report but Experian continues to decrease my credit rating. How am I, or any consumer, supposed to maintain a good credit rating when Experian makes changes with no apparent reason nor does Experian provide any explanation. As consumers, we have no choice - files are open with the three credit rating agencies and we have very little control over these files. They sometimes have incorrect information which we, the consumers, are expected to correct while the credit reporting agencies are never held accountable for their mistakes. They seem more interested in marketing new " features '', scaring the consumer into buying unnecessary services. Tell me what the difference is between Experian 's " Credit Lock '' and the " Freeze '' that I already have on my account! We need strong laws regulating the credit reporting agencies and a better CFPB that will actually do something other than merely submitting our complaints to these agencies.
