Asset recovery sent a letter offering a settlement amount. I have no contractual agreement with asset recovery. The statement date on the letter says XXXX. The letter mentioned that I had until XXXX to accept the offer and to stop collection attempts. Well I spoke with a representative by the name of XXXX on XX/XX/2023 at around XXXX. I called in to say that I would like to settle the amount owed if they are able to provide me with the original account number so that I can make the payment online via XXXX. Asset recovery wasnt able to provide me with a correct account #. The letter that assets sent me shows an ID and a 16 digit account number. The letter only shows the last 4 digits of the account number and the other remaining digits are have a asterisk. I asked two different representatives for the account number and the first one had no idea what I was referring to. So she referred me back to XXXX the account XXXX XXXX provided me with the Id number which was 8 digits long and an account # that was only 9 digits. Which is clearly isnt correct info according to the statement letter that I received regarding this debt. So it seems to me that there is no original instrument of indebtness in existence since Assest recovery wasnt able to provide me with the original account number thats needed in order to pay the debt online on there site ( XXXX ). Which again should settle the matter legally and financially. I would appreciate it if you would review my documentation and obtain a statement of facts from XXXX XXXX XXXX outlining why they can not produce the original account number/contract, and why their debt collection agency Assets Recovery is unable to provide me with the original account number. Now I came to find out they reported this debt to the credit agencies but they are unable to provide me an accurate account number/validate the debt. This is a flagrant violation of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act 15 U.S.C. 1681et seq.
