Consumer Narrative
My previous loan company that had been assigned to me was naviant. They told me that if I made 3 consecutive payments of I beleive {$300.00} on a specific date for three months in a row that I would qualify for an assistance program that would then secure me me making around a {$30.00} to {$40.00} payment each month for the next 64 months. I made two of these payments, and submitted my information ( which I was told they never received ), I then submitted it again, from which I heard nothing back from them. Shortly after making the second payment of {$300.00}, Navient was no longer the company I dealt with and I was assigned to a new company. I have patiently waited to see if that {$600.00} payment would ever show up on my credit report, and assumed the delay in its appearance was due to the pandemic. I recently saw an article that stated navient had been acknowledged for some deceptive tactics regarding student loan debt. I graduated college with a XXXX XXXX, and a XXXX XXXX XXXX. I would have liked to continue my education and obtain higher credentials so that I would hopefully obtain more opportunities for higher salary paying jobs, however, the interest is astronomically high on student loans and being that I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX along with inflation, furthering my education does not seem like a very smart option at this time. I am worried that the upcoming absence of the deferred payments will require me to have to commit to the monthly payment I had tried to avoid prior to agreeing to.the terms of navients arrangement. These payments come to between {$250.00} and $ XXXX from what I've seen on my paperwork. Money is tighter then ever and I am literally living paycheck to paycheck. I am wondering if Navient fraudulently set me up on a plan that was set up to not be possible, and took my {$600.00} for whatever reason except to go towards any of my loans. Thank you for your time.
