Consumer Narrative
Equifax is refusing to follow federal law and honor my police report identifying a fraudulent account that only Equifax is reporting. Equifax before investigated the fraudulent account and removed it after a XXXX investigation from my credit report to now months later begin re-reporting the fraudulent account. Upon calling in Equifax to submit a " new '' police report ( because the old one that was used to remove the fraudulent account the first XXXX times is now expired ), social security card and id because everything expired from my original dispute that took 30 days and removed a fraudulent account from XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. The Equifax representative said once received it would be removed again. Instead, it is still being reported, and I received a letter to mail from Equifax in response to the investigation to now mail-in in a copy of my drivers license and social security card ( both of these items were included in the first XXXX disputes ). This is stressful and exhausting the duration that it takes to correct fraudulent information from my credit report. Equifax is currently furnishing incorrect and fraudulent information on my credit report. As a background, Equifax investigated the fraudulent account on my credit report from XX/XX/22 to XX/XX/22. The results of the investigation were completed on XX/XX/22 and mailed to me indicating that the fraudulent account had been investigated, determined to be fraudulent and was removed from my credit profile. I was provided with confirmation number XXXX to confirm this and a new copy of my credit report without the fraudulent item no longer reporting. I am mailing in a copy of my social security card and drivers license in response to Equifax 's request and I am hoping that the fraudulent item can be removed for good this time as is a direct violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
