I went to open a checking account and Bank said credit reporting agency, Equifax, had a hold on my credit report. I inquired with Equifax, after talking to them they said there was no problem. I tried to log on and got an error message. Tried XXXXXXXX same error. Called Equifax back, with error codes. Talked to supervisor ( XXXX, XXXX # XXXX ) who stated I needed to send a letter in the mail with a cover letter, my drivers license and my social security card to verify my identity. I asked why? Was there an identity issue? He just kept repeating I need to send verification of my identity and there were no holds or freezes. No reason was ever given to me.
