XXXX I took a loan with XXXX in XXXX XXXX, {$15000.00} at 18 % interest. {$2800.00} was used to pay off a loan balance with XXXX that I took out XXXX for {$5900.00} at 20.918 % interest. The remaining {$12000.00} was used to pay off some smaller debt to position my husband and I for success. He had spent 17 months XXXX with the XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX and was having a hard time adjusting being back to civilian life. This loan helped us pay bills without too much financial stress while he took some time to heal from the death of his father during his XXXX. In XXXX, we unfortunately, separated and I moved out. He filed bankruptcy and I struggled to live day to day working full-time but not making ends meet. XXXX I contacted XXXX to share my XXXX and I was granted a loan modification. In XXXX XXXX bought my loan from XXXX. They also granted me a modification after jumping through all the hoops they asked me to jump through. Sometime between XXXX - XXXX my loan was bought by One Main Financial. Several times I contacted them questioning why after paying on the loan since XXXX was it not paid off. I had paying on this loan for 15 years! 15 years. In XXXX I requested a printout of what I have paid to date. From XXXX to XXXX the principal was decreased to {$10000.00}. I kept paying though. At some point in XXXX XXXX XXXX had removed the interest from the loan so I was just paying principal payment of {$110.00}. In XXXX I had enough. I stopped paying. Responsible me struggled with this decision. At the time my father was placed in a nursing home and was diagnosed with XXXX. It is my sole responsibility to make sure he was being cared for properly and being respected in his new living environment. I was overwhelmed and I gave up mentally and emotionally. I wish I would have filed this complaint before now. I have worked very hard to bring my XXXX XXXX up from the XXXX it was after leaving my ex-husband. I have paid back close to {$50000.00} for a {$15000.00} loan that wasn't even a mortgage. Help please. Thank you, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX )
