In good faith I respectful report an unforeseeable issue with Amex for my personal XXXX XXXX ending XXXX. Prior to the annual fee due date, XX/XX/2022, I advised Amex that I am NOT interested in paying the unreasonable membership fee for an account I do NOT use enough. I was clear I wanted to close the account, which I believed Amex honored as is my right to close and NOT be required to pay the annual fee. Only weeks after I find out that Amex did NOT close my account. AND charged me interest on the membership fee. Interest. Unacceptable. Then Amex claims even if I closed the account, I would be responsible for the annual fee. Claiming 30-day policy to close account. This is the problem. Amex was advised that I did NOT want to pay the annual fee, thus I do NOT want to keep the account. Close the account. Plain English. Close the account. Therefore, I want to close the account. Plain English. Instead, Amex played riddles, misleading me by misinformation that I was obligated to pay the annual fee even if I close the account. Now we are talking about a billion dollar, maybe trillions, international corporation. Playing games for XXXX Assuming me stupid. By coercion of obligation to pay fee and be charged further interest for unpaid membership fee, I involuntarily paid the XXXX Then Amex hit me with a XXXX late fee. I reiterated my original request to close my account and a full refund of my membership. The representative played with words deceiving me to believe I would receive a full refund of my membership. Amex closed my account, THEN advised me NO refund. THEN credited me the XXXX late fee. Simply stated, I deserve and want my XXXX membership refund in full.
