Dear Sir or Ms : Over this past weekend ( XXXX XXXX ), my wife and I submitted a mortgage application to determine our options in the purchase of a property here in XXXX VA XXXX I don't recall getting an opt-out option, but the credit bureaus shared our information with appears to be hundreds of lenders. My wife and I have each received more than 65 calls each ( XXXX calls total ) just this morning. It is atrocious and unacceptable that the same institutions that we count on to safe guard so much of our personal information are turning around and sharing this on the back side with a hungry and depressed mortgage banking market. I have never in my life had such an experience - we need strengthened data privacy laws so that my personal information is not shared with other lenders without my knowledge. I will make the decision on whether to shop around for other lenders not the credit bureau. Your assistance with this matter and sharing options for how to change this would be much appreciated.
