I live in PA. Someone with the same name or just used my name, opened an account with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. They used my SSN to open the account sometime around XX/XX/2022 in XXXX Illinois. By XXXX, {$2900.00} was owned on the account. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an email alert that at Potentially Negative- Major Derogatory appeared on my credit report. I immediately disputed it on Experian, and I contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to inform them that it was fraudulently opened under my name and SSN. They said it was actually above {$3000.00} at this point. Then I called Experian and we decided to close the dispute and report it as fraud. I received a letter from the collection agency on XX/XX/XXXX along with some of the bills that were sent to the Illinois address. I wasn't quite sure what they said in the letter. So, I contacted them again and they said we were all good. It seems like Experian agrees. I continue to see the collection on my credit report. I keep disputing that hoping to have it removed. It was fraud but yet it continues to hurt my credit rating. Is there any way to have it removed?
