I opened the Capital One XXXX. They had an advertisement that I am pre-approved for a XXXX XXXX XXXX. I was just curious what the terms were and how much the credit limit offered would be. Before that I checked the same with the XXXX XXXX. It was super easy and they provided me the details of the product and then asked if if am ready to begin the actual process. I was not ready to actually apply I was just researching. However, just following the prompts in the process I accidentally applied for the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I did not intend to do that. I believe the prompts were a little confusing. Once I realized what has happened I immediately called Capital One and canceled my credit card. However, they also ran a hard check on my credit score and that had a negative impact on my credit score. I called Capital One to get further details and explain that their process is a little confusing. They need to change the credit card application process and make it clear that you are indeed applying for a card and that there would be a hard check on your credit score.
