Applied/Approved and opened the Bread XXXX XXXX XXXX the beginning of XX/XX/2022. {$3000.00} limit. Received card about a week later and activated. Didn't try to use it for another week or so. Tried to book a room online for a trip and was denied. Thought maybe I entered info wrong so I tried to add it to my XXXX wallet and pay that way. Denied. I called Bread/Comenity who had me verify all of my information and then told me they couldn't tell me why. They told me they weren't allowed to because of fraud and that I needed to EMAIL them a copy of my drivers license, social security card and utility statement. I told them that was suspicious and they said they would just send me a letter in the mail about it. No letter arrived so I called back and they said they would send another letter. This was the case through XXXX, and now in XXXX I am contacting the CFPB. I can still log into the account online and it shows the XXXX as available credit. The haven't reported the account to any Credit bureau, they also haven't reported any of my other Comenity card history since XXXX. There is a whole thread of people on the credit forum that are having to dispute their reports just to get them to report. If they didn't want to give me the account that is fine, but don't issue the account then lie about fraud after the fact. I am tired of waiting on hold for them to try and get me to send them unsecure emails with my SS in it.
