Hello, I am nothing less than shocked at what I have just encountered with Avant Credit Card XXXX. It is something out of a fraud discovery documentary. I paid my balance off of {$2800.00} on XX/XX/22 and then closed the account. I logged into my account XXXX before I was going to delete the shortcut because I CLOSED THE ACCOUNT. I found that there was a balance of a {$6.00} in interest charges on my account posted on XX/XX/22. I was NEVER informed of any payment due by mail or email. Then they proceeded to charge me interest on the interest and a late fee of {$6.00} on XX/XX/22 which doubled my balance and I was still never notified of any balance owed in any way. This is loan sharking. After my second phone call, the late fee was waved. Then I was forced to make a payment of {$7.00}, which included the interest on the late fee that was waved, in order to avoid further late charges and interest. This is essentially extortion. When I contacted the company multiple times I reached a service out of the country that only quotes policy. They waved the late fee only after speaking to several people and wasting a lot of time. They also did not understand the math of me having paid interest on the late fee that they just waved. XXXX person actually said to me that I was not sent a paper notification because I was on e-statement. That was after I explained several times that I received no notification of any type and that at the account was closed as was even indicated by their app/website. I confirmed on XX/XX/22 that this account was reported as delinquent to the credit bureaus This is a very serious matter. Something needs to be done to correct my credit report and penalize this company for its predatory practices. The entire time this was happening this account has been closed. If I had not checked, they would have continued to increase the balance with late fees and interest and continued to negatively impact my credit ; all without ever notifying me.
