Consumer Narrative

I have had an XXXX XXXX XXXX credit card ( administered initially by XXXX XXXX XXXX ) for XXXX without issue, always paying my full XXXX balance each XXXX through an automatic withdrawal from my bank account. I use this credit card only occasionally for travel expenses and otherwise mostly rely on other cards for my routine XXXX XXXX XXXX expenses. A XXXX XXXX ago, my credit card account was transferred from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) without any notice, written or otherwise, to me. At the same time my longstanding autopay was cancelled. I was not furnished replacement credit cards or other notice that the small XXXX ( non-delinquent ) balance of a XXXX XXXX XXXX was being transferred to a new bank, without my autopay, and without a chance for me to easily pay the balance. I did not notice an issue with the credit card as I do not regularly use it when I am not travelling. XXXX began to leave me voicemail messages simply asking me to call their XXXX number without giving other information, I assumed this was spam as I had no known accounts with XXXX. They finally sent a written notice via mail to my home address demanding payment for an outstanding balance ( showing an account number last XXXX digits that I did not recognize, without any other statement details, including the amount owed or other details that would verify that the notice was not spam/junk mail ). This led me to call them and finally understand that they had taken over my account, cancelled my autopay, and now charged me several late fees and interest, and reported my account as delinquent to credit rating agencies, all without having given me proper notice or a chance to pay off the small balance. I immediately paid the outstanding balance ( they did waive the late fees and interest ), and closed the credit card account. The credit reporting issue is the a major outstanding problem, as I am looking into buying a home very soon. Since my account was not properly handled and I was never given an appropriate opportunity to pay the balance, the delinquent notice on my account is inaccurate and should be immediately removed from my credit reports to repair my credit before I seek financing for a home mortgage loan. I have never had issues with credit card debt and this issue will significantly impact my otherwise excellent creditworthiness. When I called XXXX with this issue, I was told they would " look into it but can not promise anything. '' This is not an acceptable response and I need my credit to be repaired immediately.
