At the same time I was receiving numerous strange credit confirmation emails and phone calls, XXXX notified me that my credit score, obtained from Equifax, suddenly dropped from XXXX to XXXX on XXXX XXXX. I immediately went to XXXX to get a free copy of my Equifax credit report, but the several questions it asked online to verify my identity often didn't apply or applied to periods so far back I could not recall answers with certainty. It asked for a mobile phone number and tried to send me a text. Problem : I don't text and the only phone I use is a lined telephone, which is the phone number I entered! I became especially concerned because XXXX Equifax online questions inquired about an auto lease. I NEVER had an auto lease in my life! I called Equifax and went through a long automated system before I finally got to an agent who started to ask me personal questions to verify my identity -- only to turn me over to another automated system that had me evaluate the agent. Thus, my problem was never resolved and I fear somebody might have stolen my identity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If my identity hasn't been stolen, the only credit changes I made in the last year are XXXX ) I forgot I had an alert on my credit file due to prior breaches and tried to open a XXXXXXXX XXXX credit card in XXXX to take advantage of a discount on a single item -- only to receive an adverse action letter due to my credit alert. I still received the discount. XXXX ) My husband and I stopped using our XXXX credit card when it changed banks. XXXX ) I opened a XXXX credit card account -- for the sole purpose of taking advantage of a 30 % or so discount on a single purchase around XXXX. I never even activated that account! Certainly those changes don't seem to merit a near XXXX drop in a credit score!!!!
