In XXXX of 2022, I applied to assume my mortgage entirely from my husband as we are planning a separation. I contacted the bank, XXXX and Dovenmeuhle the servicer of the mortgage. They said the process would cost {$900.00} and I had to submit this with my application, but as long as I qualified and provided the documentation I could continue with the process. In early XXXX, my assumption was approved by Dovenmeuhle. They sent me the paperwork/package towards the end of XXXX. I think I finally received it on XX/XX/XXXX. It was extensive and I had to get things done I hadn't expected, but that was okay. I reviewed that to see what else was required to continue with the process. By XXXX XXXX, I had everything ready, but this was XXXX and I would have to wait until after the holiday to finish up and send the final package back to XXXXDovenmeuhle to close. Upon returning from a holiday break, XXXX XXXX, I was going through the mail that had stacked up and noticed a letter from XXXX that my mortgage had been sold to a new bank - XXXX. In the meantime, all of my paperwork is ready to send back to finish up the assumption. I contact both banks, and basically, according to the banks there is nothing that can be done. XXXX sold my mortgage in the middle of the assumption process, XXXX won't continue the process based on my paperwork and existing application ( and credit check, approval, updated deed, etc. ). They said I have to start over and their terms are different than XXXXDovenmeuhle. On top of that, I sent {$900.00} to XXXX for a process they essentially ruined by selling my mortgage. They did not mention the refund of my payment and said that after I sent an email they would decide whether or not it would be refunded. I haven't heard from them yet. My complaint is first about selling my mortgage in the middle of business that I was conducting with them and knowing we were in the middle of something and not allowing it to finish or providing any sort of deadline or warning. My second complaint is about refunding my entire {$900.00} payment. They should have offered that from the outset of knowledge of the sale. I should not have to ask for my payment back. At this point, I still don't know what that outcome and potential argument will be.
