Consumer Narrative

In XX/XX/XXXX, your company placed a collection account on my credit report without providing me with any prior notification that I owed this debt. Additionally, I was unaware that a small balance of {$190.00} was allegedly owed to XXXX XXXX XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX, I started the process of trying to finance my first new home. On XX/XX/XXXX, my mortgage lender obtained my credit report and requested a letter of explanation on any negative reported on my credit report as per the requirement of obtaining a VA mortgage. I was provided with a small list of accounts that required attention, and this was the first time I had any knowledge of a debt owed to you. On XX/XX/XXXX, I had mailed the enclosed settlement offer letter to attempt to pay the balance off in full to your company in exchange for a courtesy removal of the account, even though I had no knowledge of this debt being owed. This also included a debt validation request in the event you wouldnt honor my offer. The debt validation portion came directly from the CFPB website and shouldve been subsequently treated as a dispute. This wouldve allowed you 30 days from receipt to provide me with all the requested information which I am entitled to. This was sent certified and was received by you on XX/XX/XXXX, signed by A KNG. Two days later, I started receiving phone calls from Conserve, so naturally, I had assumed your communications were being made to address my offer letter. It was not. I had informed the rep that I had submitted an offer letter which also included a debt validation portion should ConServe choose to not honor my offer and had asked her to please respond to my mailed requests. At this point, any collection attempts shouldve been stopped so that a proper investigation could be completed. That didnt happen. The rep proceeded to state that no letter was received and accused me of lying to the credit bureaus ( or that theyd be lying to the credit bureaus by responding to my letter ). I wasnt quite sure what was meant by that, so I kindly ended the call requesting that a rep responds to my letter On XX/XX/XXXX, a remark was noted on this account since the bureaus had been informed by ConServe that I was requesting a validation of debt. The remark reads, Account information disputed by consumer, meets FCRA requirements. As of today, the only information that I've received was legally should've been an initial debt notification notice. This should've been provided with prior to this account being placed on my credit report. There were no additional items provided, none of the my questions were addressed, and my credit shows no update/removal of this account.
