I contacted Online Information Services, a company based out of XXXX, NC, XXXX. This is about a debt from XXXX XXXX dating back to XXXX, after which services were switched at the home to another person residing in the home. I contacted the debt collection agency to explain that XXXX XXXX states after 6-7 years of being on my credit that this debt was to be taken off. They replied that the account was closed in XXXX by XXXX XXXX Then they proceeded to tell me someone was paying XXXX XXXX after XXXX on the same account that belonged to me and thats why it was still open. I told them i need paperwork showing the payments and how the payments were paid because i have no knowledge of how it was paid. I needed to know who was paying on the account after XXXX & why because it wasn't me. And if there was a person paying on the debt why is it still $ XXXX? The exact same amount that was left in XXXX when services were switched. In their own words they stated i am responsible for the balance of $ XXXX. Yet somehow some person somewhere was paying on the account until XXXX. This literally makes no sense this account only switched to being closed in XXXX when i disputed it online. Seems like they are purposely dating information wrong to keep old debts current to obtain money. When she stated she could not give me anything to help figure this situation out. i responded with I need this info to pass onto a lawyer and the person told me to give them the lawyers info and when i declined she hung up on me. They have information that could lead me to whomever kept this account open until XXXX and refuse to give me any help. XXXX XXXX told me that after 90 days of non payment they send it into collections. So based of what i was told the account with consumers should have been closed when it was sent to them over 7 years ago. Looks and sounds like a scam on multiple levels.
