CFPBs available options do not adequately describe my situation. To begin, several times there have been billing inconsistencies. On one phone call in which I attempted to address this issue, the CapitalOne agent seemed completely incapable of understanding what had occurred or addressing my concerns. Most recently, the company withdrew money from my auto-pay account that I did not actually owe. This resulted in a negative balance on my card. In other words, CapitalOne stole these monies. In a separate issue, CapitalOne is now declining purchases, even for vendors with whom I have been doing business for years and whom I have paid using my CapitalOne card on many previous occasions. On the morning of XXXX XX/XX/2022, I called and spoke with an agent, who informed me that there was a fraud watch on my card. I explained that the card is not useful to me if CapitalOne is going to decline to approve purchases. I then asked the agent to cancel my current card and send a replacement. I requested this several times and was very clear in making this request. There was also another person present who was a witness to this conversation. This morning, I received an alert that a previously declined purchase had been approved on the card that I requested be cancelled three days ago. I have been an exemplary card holder. I believe I have had this card for more than four years. Every month I pay the entire statement balance. On one occasion, my payment processed the day after the due date ( due to how CapitalOne processes its payments ), and the company charged me a fee. I asked that it be refunded, due to my excellent payment history, and the agent refused to do so. I am an attorney who is well aware of my rights. If I am having these types of problems with CapitalOne, I can only imagine what difficulties less informed, less educated consumers are having. From my perspective, the company is not acting in good faith and is violating the law.
