Two days ago I attempted to open a XXXX XXXX XXXX card at Capital One. It was advertised with a {$200.00} bonus after spending {$500.00} in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. This card is meant for people with excellent credit ; XXXX XXXX states my last XXXX XXXX XXXX was XXXX. Capital One performed a hard inquiry and denied me for the card with the bonus, but approved me for the exact same card with no bonus. With all the credit card options currently available, I would have never applied for any card without a bonus and denied their offer to open the bonus-less card. If Capital One did not feel I was a good candidate for the credit card I applied for, they should have denied me altogether. Yesterday, I applied for a XXXX XXXX card with a bonus and was approved. Im disappointed that Capital One is advertising something, running hard credit inquiries which negatively affect the consumer, and then denying them for only the bonus advertised.
