Consumer Narrative

I tried to open a checking account in XX/XX/2022 with XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX online. The application was held in " Decision Pending '' for over a month, even after I unfroze my credit report for them multiple times. They continued to send me messages within the application portal, requesting that I unfreeze my credit, which I did several times. I also called the bank several times or several occasions, in which, I talked to a female representative, who promised to call me back and/or forward my issue to the department who handles processing membership applications. No one ever called me back. On XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX, I asked to have my application withdrawn due to the poor service I received, prior to even becoming a member. In mid XX/XX/2022, while checking my credit reports, I discovered on my Equifax report a " hard inquiry '' posted by XXXX 'XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. I couldn't believe it, after getting several messages within the application portal from them, this bank miraculously, were able to run my credit, after I withdrew my application. I've never had any bank to run a " hard inquiry '' for a checking account. I have had checking accounts with large banks and have 2 with other credit unions, who never ran a " hard inquiry '' for a checking account. I submitted a complaint to Equifax and XXXX about the issue and was told on XX/XX/2022 that the inquiry was " factual ''. Yes, the inquiry isn't fraudulent but a " hard inquiry '' for a checking account application I asked to have withdrawn is wrong to me and any other consumer. The fact that they ran the " hard inquiry '' after I told them I wanted the application withdrawn and after they stated they were unable to run it before my application withdrawal is very suspect and appears to be malicious.
