The three credit reporting bureaus ( XXXX, XXXX, and TransUnion ) require me to mail highly personal documents such as a copy of a Social Security card, birth certificate, and driver 's license in order to place a freeze on my daughter 's credit reports. I can place a freeze online for myself, but for some reason they make it more difficult and significantly less secure for me to do it for her. I'm worried about something happening to the documents as they cross the country. It's very insecure to have to mail these documents. I thought they were required to allow me to do it by phone or online. Is this not the case?
