Consumer Narrative
In XXXX my credit report started reading that my car loan from Wells Fargo was paid in full. I reached out the company to find out what was going on as I still owed around {$7000.00} on my loan. I was told that someone would get back to me, however no one ever did. I did not check back with them but continued to see on my credit report that the loan was paid in full. Sometime went by and still no communication, more than a year had passed and then my car was repossessed. I reached out immediately to Wells Fargo and they told me there was nothing I could do besides pay in full the amount still owed on the vehicle. I spoke with several different associates over the course of a week and no one was able to help me nor tell me how this happened with no communication. They confirmed that my work and home address and phone numbers were listed in their files as well as my email. With this vehicle being my only source of transportation to work and to see my kids, I had to call in to work and miss time with the kids. With no other choice, and not enough funds to pay off the loan, I filed bankruptcy. I was informed that this was a process that could possibly help me keep my vehicle. However during arbitration, Wells Fargo declared that the repossession was legitimate and kept my vehicle. After dealing with bankruptcy, being denied for car loans, home loans and spending hundreds on borrowing a car and thousands on a lawyer, years later here comes Well Fargo with a check and letter admitting that they failed to properly communicate with me before/when my loan became past due and the was no communication XXXX their behalf to me in order to retrieve the vehicle. So my life was turned upside down because a huge company, with persons in place to avoid this kind of thing, failed to properly communicate. Wells Forgo forced me into bankruptcy and I believe they are trying to cover this up by offering pennies compared to what I lost over the years dealing with this.
