The beginning of XX/XX/2022, I received notification from XXXX XXXX regarding an outstanding account with XXXX XXXX XXXX along with payment options to satisfy the {$9400.00} balance. I called and spoke to a representative to request a verification of debt letter. Upon receiving the information, the math was not accurate. I have reached out to XXXX and disputed this account in the past, but was informed the account had been sold to collections and to contact them with any questions. XXXX XX/XX/2022, I filed a dispute with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX the discrepancy in the amount owed. CFPB dispute number XXXX. Their response regurgitated a lot of known information, however failed to address the error. The end of the response contained a phone number for XXXX XXXX and for me to call with any questions. XXXX XXXX XXXX, I called, as per instructed, and was again informed my account had been sold to a collection agency and for me to reach out to them with any questions. XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX, I filed a dispute with CFPB ( XXXX ) with XXXX XXXX and submitted the documentation proving the amount owed is not what XXXX is claiming XXXX I added XXXX XXXX in the dispute and they received a copy. XXXX XXXX replied after reviewing the documents submitted, the collection account was sent back to XXXX XXXX. They would cease all collection activity on that account. XXXX has yet to respond to this dispute. I have disputed the XXXX account with through the credit reporting agencies and those were closed in favor of the creditor. I was advised to file disputes through CFPB against the CRAs considering the documentation proves my case and the information being reported is inaccurate. In addition, trying to get this resolved with the creditor has proven ineffective as incorrect information was provided to CFPB about calling for assistance, the status of my account, and they have not offered any information regarding the mathematical errors and the amount being reported vs the amount paid on the account, deduction of the amount of sale from car, exaggerated, unexplained fees that contributed to the high amount in collections. I have tried repeatedly to receive clarification on the account however misinformation has left me out of options and with a derogatory negative mark which affects my credit score severely. Even without the months of payments made towards the original balance of {$14000.00} The sale of the vehicle at {$8000.00} plus the amount in collections of {$9000.00} would be over {$17000.00} paid on a {$14000.00} original balance.
