On XX/XX/2022 my Avant credit card was either lost or stolen. Someone used it to make various purchased up to the maximum limit of the credit card. On XX/XX/2022 I realized the charges had been made and noticed the card was no longer in my possession. I reported the card lost or stolen to the Avant credit card at XXXX. Several days later I received a letter informing me that there was a case number assigned ( XXXX ) and asking me to call the investigator name " XXXX '' at XXXX XXXX. Calling XXXX XXXX reaches a voice mail asking to leave name, claim number, and call back number with a promise that the call will be returned in 24 hours. Similarly, calling XXXX and trying to go through an operator results in the same message and promise, except there is no name attached to it -- only " Fraud ''. Each day for XXXX consecutive business days, I called and left messages, and there was never anyone who returned a call. Eventually, I began to also call the original number where I had reported the card lost/stolen ( XXXX ). There I was informed that " XXXX '' had closed the investigation with the conclusion that the charges are valid. Now, with my latest statement, Avant is insisting that I pay the $ XXXX in fraudulent charges under threat of penalty and credit reprisal.
