Hello, I have been trying to delete a fraudulent account in which I believe was opened by an ex spouse or family member in my name off my Equifax credit report for years now. The account was opened in 2019 with a balance due of {$3200.00}, which is not an account I ever opened. I have submitted my proof and information through identitytheft.gov, filed a police report, and disputed this account with both XXXX and XXXX, both which confirmed as true and removed completely from my account. Equifax continues to update my dispute as verified yet has never sent me proof of verification, the steps they took, and especially their compliance with the law and my rights under 15 USC 1681. The local police department reviewed security video footage as well as a handwriting analysis to compare signatures and confirmed this was an act of identity theft, Equifax still refused to remove the account which has had an enormous negative impact on my credit report effecting my life greatly. I am appalled at their lack of correspondence, and willingness to help another human being. I was even sent a letter saying they couldnt find my account or identify me as an existing human the same week they verified my dispute as accurate and remained on my credit. I am appalled by this company.
