On XX/XX/XXXX I went into Huntington Bank to exchange some pesos Into dollars I brought in XXXX pesos they said the equivalent was {$4100.00} they said it would be deposited into my account within 7 to 10 business day I waited 10 days I called they said they didnt know anything yet on the 12th day I called and they said that it was denied that the bills that I turned in were old I didnt understand because I had taken pictures of the bill and one of the bills said XXXX thats not that old. when I asked when can I come in and get my money back they said they were not giving it back that it would be destroyed by the federal reserve I said why its my property if youre not gon na give me the {$4100.00} please give me back what I brought in the pesos that was my dads he passed away two years ago he gave them to me and I have a big expense with a new XXXX Ive been in a XXXX for 26 years, I need it to cash it in so I can help pay for my 20 % of my Medicare part. At that time he said he was not able to give me any more information that I would have to XXXX the federal reserve and their practices I asked for a letter phone number address he can not supply me with any information other than I was not getting my money or my pesos back. im sorry but I do believe that that is wrong is my property I should be able to get it back. I am a XXXX year old woman, I went ahead and googled the federal reserve I called them they suggested for me to put in the complaint to the consumer finance because its not right and I want my money back dollars or pesos. I could really use the dollars to offset my unexpected expense but if they cant do it then I believe I should get my pesos back I dont understand why this process is so misleading and so wrong. thank you in advance for your time to look over this complaint I hope things can get resolved and I hope that this practice is not really used by the federal reserve of destroying money without explaining why or not given the money back as a souvenir even I just dont understand.
