I had a home improvement loan with Service Finance opened in XX/XX/XXXX. The loan was for solar panels that never worked. The installing company went out of business shortly after the panels were installed. I ran into some financial difficulties and missed two payments. My last payment was XX/XX/XXXX. I missed payments in XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. My account was reported as charged off by Service Finance in XX/XX/XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX I paid the loan off in full. My account was listed with the credit bureaus as charged off. When I paid the full amount I owed of {$14000.00} in XX/XX/XXXX the status was not updated to reflect it was paid in full. It does show a XXXX balance but still has charge off as the status. I have called Service Finance several times in an attempt to get the account status updated. Each representative I speak to tells me it is not possible to update the status. I am currently trying to purchase a home and the status of this account, since it is a home improvement loan is preventing me from qualifying for the mortgage. I do not expect the late payments to be erased, but the refusal of Service Finance to update this account is causing my family undue harm.
