I previously moved out of an apartment and XXXX was not available at my new address so I cancelled the service. I paid my final bill and returned the equipment. I found out years later looking at my Credit report that they had billed me for not returning the equipment, even though I did, and sent it to collections. I called XXXX to remediate the issue and they said I needed to call Credit Management LP in order to have it removed from my credit report. Upon talking to Credit Management I was told the easiest way was to pay the balance as it was only {$68.00} and they would remove it from my credit report. While I had returned the equipment I agreed to pay because the {$68.00} wasn't worth the headache as I am trying to purchase a home and this is affecting my rates. The account has now been closed, nut they have not removed it from my credit report. I have outstanding credit outside of this and it is greatly effecting my credit score and rates for something that was a mistake on XXXXXXXX XXXX part that I attempted to remediate and paid for even though I should not have needed to.
