Several years ago I joined XXXX XXXX in CA. When I joined I set up automatic payment with my bank. Approx. XX/XX/2022 I called and informed XXXX XXXX that I was moving to Indiana and wanted to cancel my membership. They took, my information, told me I was current with payments and that I was cancelled. I then called my bank and stopped the automatic payments. A few months later I was contacted by a XXXX XXXX agent who said I owed {$130.00}, I told them I cancelled my membership and was current when cancelled. They said they would check. I was then told I was okay. Heard nothing else for 6 months when the law firm of Aldous & Associates contacted me. I informed them in writing that I disputed the claim, and that I cancelled as described above. I asked them in writing for an explanation of the {$130.00} charge and all documents pertaining to the charge. I only received an illegible copy of a membership agreement that was unreadable. I again asked for an explanation of the charge and copies of legible documents. I was supplied with no other documents or information verifying what was owed. They reported the alleged debt to credit bureaus. Despite knowing that the debt was disputed, they provided no legible documents or information, after I had requested these same twice in writing.
