I submitted a refund request with EDfinancial. I received no confirmation via email ( no refund information is posted on my account ) and have had to call to get updates. I am now told this refund process can take up to six months, and I could potentially miss the window to have some of the loans that will be put back on my account forgiven. For a student these are large sums of cash and I was hoping I could call and expedite the refund process. EDfinancial says refunds are at the discretion of the Dept of Education. After doing research it seems the only hope I have is to daily hound EDfinancial to make sure they stay on top of the refund.
