On XX/XX/XXXX I called Edfinancial to request a refund of payments I made on my account since XXXX of XXXX [ XXXX ]. I was immediately told it would take 5 to 7 months to get done and so what did I want to do? I asked why it would take that long. They had no information to offer and seemed to want me to say that I didnt want to go through the process. I said that I did. I was asked a few questions. Then I asked about confirmation that the request had been submitted and was told there was absolutely no way they could give that to me. I asked that at least an email be sent to me confirming that this conversation actually took place. The customer service agent said there was no way they could do that. I asked that they please double check. I was put on hold and then eventually told that there was nothing they could send me. At all. So I was supposed to just trust that 5 to 7 months from now a deposit would be made into my checking account and what if the request were to be lost? I then mentioned that I needed to change my last name on my account [ marriage ] and was told that they could send me an email with instructions on how to do that. Why can an email easily be sent about how to change your name but its impossible to send an email confirmation that a refund request has been made? Their current practices seem unreasonable, potentially illegal, and intentionally designed to dissuade people from requesting refunds.
