Shellpoint Mortgage aka Newrez received my mortgage on XX/XX/22. I received a letter from my original lender XXXX XXXX stating that the effective date of transfer is XX/XX/22. The letter stated that according to federal law I have 60 days grace period before the new company can take any action against me for late payment. I set up auto-pay through the web portal but it did not go through somehow. After seeing that no withdrawal was made from my bank account I made my 1st and 2nd payment to Newrez XX/XX/22 after talking to a rep. The next credit refresh showed that they filed a claim against me stating that my payment was late. I called Newrez and on a recorded line the employee told me it was an error on their side and it should reflect as fixed on my next credit refresh. I waited till the next credit refresh and the late payment was still there. I spoke to a new employee on the phone and they stated that the late payment was correct but they would pull the recording and get back to me, which they did not. I have now emailed the company with the letter I received from my original mortgage company and my current credit report reflecting the XXXX pt drop in my credit score from this error.
