Consumer Narrative

( Before reading all of this, I will specify that we used Zelle for the money transfer. ) On XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/22, me and my family were looking for puppies to adopt. We posted a post on XXXX online, and someone commented under our post and said theyll sell the puppy for {$900.00}. We thought that was pretty cheap and a pretty good deal, but it was way too good to be true. The scammer also messaged us about the puppy and said its for {$900.00} because shes about to travel to XXXX and shes leaving in about a week. Which seemed reasonable and explains why she would want to get rid of the family. At first she was saying that she wanted to rehome the puppy and shed want the family or the person thats going to take care of it will be in good hands. She also put a fake address after she said that, so we thought she was legit and honest. We also called on messenger and we were negotiating the price, we were saying about {$500.00} or {$600.00} would be a better price for that money, since it was for my daughters birthday. And I also said that Ill pay half right now and Ill send the rest later. The scammer agreed to it and I did as well. I also asked the scammer for more pictures and videos of the dog and she sent me nothing and her excuse was My camera is broken, which seemed reasonable at first. And we also asked for a XXXX and she said Im at work but my camera is broken and I cant, and I live alone so nobody can XXXX for me. We didnt suspect a thing due to how low-priced the dog was. And then she said shell XXXX the dog right away and give us the things the dog needs, such as its cage, food/treats, toys, clothes, leash and collar etc,. Which seemed really okay with us at first because we needed those things so we said okay. And we used the company Zelle to money transfer her, we sent {$200.00} and then sent the screenshot of the money amount transferred to her, and then she blocked me on XXXX. But luckily, she sent us the number so we could Zelle her, but it turns out that the number was her friends number, and her friend was collecting the money for her. We called her friend and asked her to send the money back, she said no. And then the next day, XX/XX/22, her husband texted me on her phone and he was sending us threats and saying that they are not teaming up with the scammer nor do they know the scammer and that they arent friends at all. But how is that possible when the scammer gave us their number and also their real name, both of the contacts were right, and we also confirmed with the scammer if the details were right and she said yes. So please, help us get our {$200.00} back. This is very frustrating and we have already tried to get in contact with them but they have already blocked us.
