Consumer Narrative

Equifax failed to remove unauthorized accounts on my credit report under 15 USC 1681a3. Equifax never obtained any consent from the creditor and did not have permissible purposed to give XXXX XXXX access to My credit report. Equifax violated my right to privacy and have been unfair and partial towards me. 15 USC 1681b2 requires Equifax to have permissible purpose before giving access to my credit report. On XX/XX/2022, Equifax representatives informed me that they could not provide a copy of my consent, or permissible purpose provided by the fraudulent creditor, because they did not have any and did not require it in order to give access to my credit report. This call is recorded. Equifax failed to assure the maximum accuracy of the information concerning me as it relates to my credit report. 15 USC 1681e ( b ) makes it clear that it is the job of Equifax to assure the accuracy before placing false information on my credit report. Equifax informed me that they do not have to do that and if I do not agree with that the creditor has placed, it is my job to contact that creditor. Equifax informed me that they do not conduct an investigation, they give the information to the creditor, and if the creditor says it is valid, they will continue to furnish the information. This is a direct violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. 15 USC 1681i states that Equifax if responsible for looking at my information and making an impartial, fair decision with respect to my privacy. In their last response to my investigation, Equifax admitted to not investigating my dispute. They gave the information I produced to the creditor ( including the identity theft report and police report ), and allowed the fraud to continue reporting on my account. This is harmful to me and my life. This is hurting my children and myself. This is illegal and a violation of the FCRA. Equifax does not abide by the law and must be held responsible.
