Consumer Narrative

Wilber Group was contracted on behalf of an auto insurance company to collect money from me related to a superficial bumper scratch sustained to another vehicle in an accident I was involved in. They used threatening, abusive language to strong arm me into paying a vastly inflated sum that was several times more than the actual damages incurred. In particular they engage in a number of predatory and dishonest tactics attempting to force me into paying them additional money that is completely irrelevant to and outside of the original debt I was levied for the damages. When I indicated my interest in resolving the matter they reassured me that they would provide the necessary documentation stating I have settled my financial obligation to them and releasing me from liability immediately upon receipt of full payment. However once I completed payment and settled the debt in full ( receipt attached ) they deliberately stalled delivery of the Release of Liability form, trying to force me into paying an additional {$52.00} just for them to send the form in a timely manner. Then after they finally sent the form it was intentionally completed improperly, they did not even sign the form in spite of the obviously marked fields requiring signatures. In the letter accompanying the form they conveniently state that " Reprints are available for a {$100.00} fee '' - so they deliberately screwed up the form to coerce me into paying an additional {$100.00} to correct THEIR OWN mistake. The form is a standard form required by the state of Wisconsin that Wilber has to complete for each Wisconsin driver they have a file on, there is no conceivable way that Wilber would not know that the form, which has fields on it requiring signatures, does not need to be signed. Contacting them and requesting that they correct the document by completing the signatures and returning it to me is utterly futile as they keep stonewalling me and telling me they would call me back and ultimately doing nothing. I have fully paid off the sum they demanded of me and can't even get them to fulfill their own respective extremely basic responsibility of sending a proper release form. This company practices are beyond unfair, unethical and incompetent. It's clear they are getting away with these abuses because nobody is monitoring them and holding them accountable so they exploit people and XXXX them over.
