I was contacted on XX/XX/XXXX from Meade and Associates via phone call in regards to a supposedly unpaid medical debt from XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX of XXXX. I was first told that there were two bills ( one for {$150.00} on XX/XX/XXXX and one for {$48.00} on XX/XX/XXXX ) from XXXX XXXX XXXX. I had not received a written letter from the collection company nor have I received these bills from XXXX. I contacted XXXX billing and they confirmed that I had paid these in full through both of my insurance companies. I confirmed the reference numbers and amounts provided by Meade and confirmed that these are the paid bills in collections. XXXX agreed to send a letter to me via snail mail confirming the amounts paid in full and I should receive it in 10 business days. This information was shared with Meade and Associates. They did not respond. When I called Meade and Associates back, they changed t heir story. Now, they are claiming that XXXX XXXX submitted the debt. I called the XXXX department who were confused as they do not handle billing and they forwarded me to the billing department who again, confirmed I paid in full and should not be in collections. I relayed this information back to Meade with no response. I even called my doctors personal billing department and they have no record of me in that unique department so I could not have a debt as I do not have a profile/account. Today, on XX/XX/XXXX I received another call from Meade and Associates with a NEW story from them. Meade claimed to have contacted XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and said I had an outstanding balance with XXXX. Apparently, Meade and Associates have been emailing back and forth with XXXX XXXX XXXX ( which I have never been to before ) about me and my debt. When I asked for the email they ( Meade ) were emailing to, they refused to give it to me. I called XXXX and spoke with several supervisors who were all just as confused as me because Im not in their system nor do they work with Meade and Associates for collections. XXXX believes this is a scam at this point or potential fraud. It has been over 7 days since Meade and Associates have first contacted me. I still have not received a straight answer where this debt has come from, who sold it to them, who to contact, nor have I received a written letter confirming this supposed debt from this collection company.
