My current wife recieved a call on her cell phone from a restricted number asking about me. They informed her they were with the county service department and that they needed XXXX to call the civil lawsuit division of our county for more information regarding a lawsuit against the BOTH of us. the number they provided was XXXX and stated we needed to give them his name and they could provide court details. My wife then called me and the number they provided for the XXXX county civil division courthouse '' and it went to American credit acceptance line. My wife and I got married just over a year ago and this debt was from almost 10 years ago. I never provided them her information and I never gave them consent to call her. I was under the impression this was resolved and closed years ago. They stated that my wife and I were being sued for the " XXXX '' I purchased. I would like to reiterate I have not spoken to anyone regarding this in easily 7+ years. They pretended to be legal service departments with XXXX county and they were not. I am in the process of getting into the police department here and had all of my files pulled as well as went down to the courthouse to confirm none of what they said was true and at this point no lawsuit has been filed. They used aggressive collecting as a way to try to get my wife to pay something we do not owe.
