I am a victim of identity theft. On XXXX I submitted complaint number XXXX to the CFPB detailing my disputes with TransUnion, a consumer reporting agency. On XXXX I mailed TransUnion a notice disputing the inaccurate public record they were reporting to my consumer report. TransUnion received my notice on XXXX. TransUnion mailed me a response dated XXXX with a file number of XXXX. TransUnion 's response to my dispute was that the " US XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX is the data furnisher who verified the information to them ''. However, I contacted the XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX and they replied to me that they DID NOT verify or furnish such information to TransUnion. On XXXX TransUnion responded to my complaint to CFPB through the CFPB portal. TransUnion replied After careful review, we have determined the information submitted in the portal included a dispute of information appearing on your credit report. In response to your request, the following actions were taken on your credit file : You disputed the following accounts and/or public records on your credit file. Below includes the results of that investigation. XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX updated. The attached exhibits provide clear evidence that the XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX is not the furnisher of information. TransUnion admits, in their letter dated XXXX titled Re : Investigation Procedure, that they hire a third party to research public records. I maintain there are instances where public records contain inaccurate information. By continuing to assert that the XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX is the source and furnisher of information to TransUnion, they are hindering and obstructing my right and ability to dispute this information directly with the furnisher, pursuant to 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ( a ) ( 8 ). TransUnion is committing a FRAUD against me by not disclosing to me the third party they hired as the furnisher of information which they are reporting. By continuing to report this inaccurate, and unverified information to my consumer report TransUnion is in violation of 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) due to the fact that they have reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate. TransUnion has failed, on numerous occasions, to verify the information which they are reporting to my consumer report. TransUnion has failed to assure maximum possible accuracy of the information in the consumer report which relates to me, a violation of 15 U.S.C. 1681e ( b ). I demand the immediate deletion of this unverifiable information that is reported on my TransUnion consumer report.
