On XX/XX/XXXX I had a storage unit I rented that got burglarized. A couple of boxes of items as well as a laptop bag with personal and business documents were stolen. Among these items were sensitive paperwork containing my social security number and birthday, etc. I filed a police report claiming all the pertinent information related to the missing items and the theft. Apparently, within a month someone was using my data to obtain credit and apply for credit. Between XXXX and XXXX of XXXX, I was in XXXX for 30 days and on XXXX XXXX for 44 days up until about the first week of XXXX give or take. I have repeatedly requested that Equifax XXXX XXXX investigate this account, provide me with proof of my signature or anything like method of verification, etc.. they have not. The in fact, continue to report the item as verified and updated. XXXX XXXX XXXX collection account XXXX... IS A RESULT OF IDENTITY THEFT AND I NEED THAT TAKEN OFF OF MY CREDIT REPORT. *Data sets related to inputting of accounts were not Metro 2 Compliant. *Payment Status Data Listed is Mismatched, Compared to Other Credit Reports. I am going to submit the police report and insurance claim documents related to this incident as proof of my truth. I can even get the documents regarding my brief jail time to PROVE that I wasn't even in any way able to open a XXXX account in XX/XX/XXXX. My Original CFPB complaint is XXXX If they claim it's to remain on record until XX/XX/XXXX, and won't provide any proof to me, I humbly request the item be immediately and permanently deleted from my Equifax and XXXX Credit Reports XXXX They have not provided any proof of the Method of Verification nor have they deleted the account from my report. Continue to say the item is updated and it will remain on record until XX/XX/XXXX. How can they do this? They clearly have not properly investigated and have violated my Federally Protected Consumer Rights. I have substantial grounds and valid proof and reasoning for the Deletion of This Account.
