As a consequence of the pandemic, I lost my job so I could only keep up with the mortgage payments until XX/XX/XXXX ( 5 months into the pandemic ). I found myself in default for the whole year of XXXX and part of XXXX. However, for most of XXXX, the state of Maryland XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX had been in close contact with Fay Servicing , LLC as I was in the process of being approved for homeowners assistance to bring my mortgage up-to-date. According to a Fay Servicing representative, with whom I spoke, they informed the state of MD that Fay Servicing was placing a hold on my loan-account until XX/XX/XXXX, before they would take any further action. However, on XX/XX/XXXX, Fay Servicing reported to the credit bureau that I was in default which caused a XXXX drop to my credit. They did not keep their promise to wait until XX/XX/XXXX. I immediately called XXXX XXXX to report this and told their representative that their company had clearly acted in absolute bad faith because the entire time that I had been in default ( for 20 months straight ) they had never reported anything to the credit bureau. They knew the state of MD was helping me out, and they reported me - before the date they had set up themselves. Their representative had the audacity to tell me that I was not the only one that was affected by the pandemic ; that millions were keeping up with their mortgage payments. I told him that it was not his place to be making diminishing judgments of any of their customers. My mortgage is now up-to-date thanks to my state assistance. Over the years, I have come to dislike the way Fay Servicing representatives talk to me. They are extremely disrespectful and rude. I always feel intimidated by their phone calls especially during this pandemic that turned my life upside down.
