Started receiving letters and phone calls from car dealerships about loans over the past few weeks. Initial thought was these where just scam phone calls but after we looked at my credit score there have been multiple hard inquirers on my credit and in my name over the past month. When we looked at my credit report there is also alternative names and addresses on file that don't belong to me. My credit score has also dropped due to these inquirers. We have frozen my credit on all 3 companies and now want to know what the next step is for me to make sure no loans were taken out in my name, find out how to my information got out and how to protect it going forward, and how to get my credit score back to where it was before.
