Our loan was placed in forbearance due to my husband and I both losing our jobs repeatedly during XXXX. Upon the expiration of our forbearance, the lender/servicer ( XXXX ) told us the only way to rectify the situation was to pay, in a lump sum, $ XXXX. Because of them lying to both my husband and I, we separated and were XXXX week from finalizing our divorce. Luckily we reconciled and began working with our mortgage company together, and realized we were both being told different things. I researched our options according to CFPB and XXXX XXXX and our options were NOT being given to us. When the lender/servicer/collection agency was confronted with this, they offered a loan modification but were adding the past due payments to our mortgage balance, thus increasing the balance and making it impossible to sell the home for that amount. We insisted to talk to someone in management or directly with the servicer ( XXXX ) and again were told no, that our options included a XXXX year loan for a larger amount or to now pay almost $ XXXX to avoid foreclosure. We have communicated with our mortgage company monthly asking for all our options to be presented and they were not. Now, they have filed for a non-judicial foreclosure. This company ( XXXX ) has been sued multiple times in class action suits for this very thing. We currently have renters and they are about to purchase this home. We need to stop this unlawful company from ruining our lives, their lives, and countless others. We have submitted for XXXX funds in the state of XXXX for relief. This too was not given to us as an option, we had to research this issue ourselves.
