I have been with the state employees credit union for more than 20 years, since I was a teenager. Around XXXX, I had some issues with them trying to apply for a mortgage loan. They gave me the runaround from branch to branch until I started complaining about the services and misinformation I was receiving. Then, I requested that my wife and I open an additional share ( savings ) account to start saving money together. It was denied to me for reasons unrelated to my credit or banking history. When they tried to fix their mistake, I refused to do business with them. In XXXX I bought my home with no problems and got financing through my builder. Within this year, I tried to refinance my home with the credit union and was denied, despite the fact that my credit score exceeded their " qualification '' expectations. Prior to all of this, I also had a personal loan to consolidate my credit cards, and I paid that loan off on time and early. On XX/XX/XXXX, I tried to consolidate them but was denied again. I am filing a complaint because I believe the secu has retaliated against my previous complaints against branches and executives. I can not retrieve those prior messages from the portal because their system limits the amount of time before deleting them. Filing this complaint is only step to show how the credit union has discrimination and I can say with several other people that I know personal, of color, have experienced this with the credit union. I am disgusted that I have always tried to keep a upstanding credit and payment history with the bank, only to express my concern about the miscommunication with trying to purchase a home and they credit union decided to black mail me from any future lending services.
